The Mental Makeover Process
After over 15 years of working with clients just like you, I discovered that there’s a process that absolutely must be followed in order for anyone to achieve true and lasting results. I also discovered that this formula explains why so many women, just like you and me, continually struggle with their weight loss and body image issues.
1. Identify Limiting Belief Programs
2. Access Limiting Belief Programs
3. Uninstall Limiting Belief Programs
4. Install Empowering Belief Programs
To better understand this formula, imagine that your mind is like a computer that has all types of programs installed on it’s hard-drive. The programs are all the thoughts and beliefs you have about virtually everything in your life.
How did you get these programs? Over 90 percent of them were installed during your early childhood by your primary caregivers. As a young child, you didn’t have the psychological development to question what was true and what wasn’t true so the most dominant thoughts and beliefs implicitly or explicitly expressed by your parents, guardians, teachers, respected elders and even society, were programmed onto your hard drive.
The rest were installed as you experienced big events in your life: your first love, your first job, marriage, parenthood and so on. Joyful and pleasant experiences reinforced empowering programs. Traumatic or unpleasant experienced reinforced disempowering programs.
STEP 1: Identify the Limiting Belief-Program
The first step is to Identify your limiting beliefs. Now, I won’t lie, this can be challenging without some help. This is because limiting belief programs are held in the subconscious mind, which means that we’re unaware of them. It makes sense, right? If we were aware of our limiting beliefs they’d be easy to notice and therefore change.
But they’re not noticeable to us. However, they are often times very noticeable to others. How many times have you seen a close relative or good friend repeat the exact same self-sabotaging scene over and over again, and said to yourself “Oh my god, when will he ever learn. It’s so obvious, I can’t believe he just doesn’t get it?”. That’s a limiting belief in full action!
In the Mental Makeover Process, it’s vital that you correctly identify your limiting beliefs. When most people try to do this without guidance, they find themselves stuck and eventually give up, thinking that “ This ‘mental stuff’ might work for other people, but it doesn’t work for me.”
I’m here to tell you that this process works for everyone, so long as you are ready, willing and able to explore your thoughts and emotions… your programs.
Step 2 : Access the Limiting Belief Program
Once you’ve identified your limiting belief, you need to Access it. Let’s go back to the computer analogy. You’ve identified that you have a limiting belief, or program on your hard drive called, “ My thighs are too fat”. You can see it on the hard drive, but you haven’t ‘opened’ the program yet.
In order to uninstall the “My thighs are too fat” program you have to access it first. You have to open it. In this case, the “My thighs are too fat” program has an actual ‘neural network’ in your brain that’s associated with it. This neural network is, in simple terms, a series electro-chemical signals and impulses. But, when this physiological program is ‘opened’, it’s effects are more often than not negative.
So why open the program, why not just get rid of it? It’s not quite that simple, I wish it were, we’d have a lot more happy people in this world! However, there is good reason as to why you must access and open the program. You need to open the program, which is accomplished through thoughts and emotions associated with the program, in order to ‘break’ the neural network connection.
If you recall, all limiting beliefs are held at the level of the subconscious mind. But in the moment that you consciously access those beliefs and their associated thoughts, you disable them. It’s absolutely essential to do this if you want to experience transformation in any aspect of your life. This is the most critical step in the Mental Makeover process.
Step 3: Uninstall the Limiting Belief Program
The third step in the Mental Makeover Process is to Uninstall the limiting belief. If you’ve done the first two steps without error, this step is very easy and has the amazing effect of freeing you instantaneously from all the old baggage that’s been holding you back for your entire life.
Uninstalling the belief program is like hitting the delete button, completely elimitating it from your hard drive. There’s no way to access it ever again once it’s uninstalled. It has no power over you. You are in total control of the direction you choose to take.
Step 4: Install an Empowering Belief-Program
There’s a final step to the Mental Makeover process: Installing empowering belief programs. The whole point of doing the first three steps is to clear the space on your mental hard drive for those high-octane, super-charged programs that will take you to new heights!
It’s important to remember though, without effectively identifying, accessing and uninstalling limiting belief programs first, you can try all you want to install an empowering program… but it just won’t work.
This is where I’d like to bring your attention to self-help and self-growth techniques that most people consider as working in the mental realm. You’re probably familiar with and may have even used affirmations, visualization, goal setting or behavior modification techniques to try to achieve an outcome.
If you’re like the vast majority of people, no amount of positive thinking or goal setting has longterm effects. The reason is, none of these techniques focus on releasing the limiting beliefs before trying to program the mind with positive thoughts and imagery.
The bottom line is this: if you have a self-sabotaging program at work in your subconscious mind, it will ALWAYS undermine your conscious attempts (via goal setting, visualization, affirmations etc) to change your way of being.
The subconscious mind controls 99% of your conscious activity!
If your subconscious mind is not in alignment with your conscious mind, you’ll continue to fail at your attempts to lose weight, overcome emotional eating and food addictions or love your body exactly how it is.
Here’s an example of conscious and subconscious belief programs that are not in alignment:
Conscious Mind: “I want to lose weight.”
Subconscious Mind: “Even if I lost weight, I’d still feel fat.”

End Result = self-sabotage and inability to lose weight permanently
Now here’s another example where conscious and subconscious belief programs are in alignment:
Conscious Mind: “I want to lose weight.”
Subconscious Mind: “I feel at peace with my body and weight”
